What is the Difference Between Cabins and Lockers? – Szechenyi Bath FAQ

Tourists visiting Szechenyi Spa Baths are often puzzled by the various tickets: there are separate prices of entry for tickets with lockers and tickets with cabins. But what is a cabin in Szechenyi Baths and what is a locker? Do you need them at all?

Well, first of all, there are no plain tickets without a locker or a cabin (except for the special bath tour tickets, which entitle visitors to have a short 15 minute bath tour in Szechenyi Baths).

Secondly, both lockers and cabins are for storing your belongings while you are enjoying the indoor baths and outdoor pools at Szechenyi Baths. Lockers are standard wardrobe type boxes with a lock on them (like the ones at train stations or at standard swimming pools). The size of the locker is 120x30x65 cm (1200 x 300 x 650 mm).

Cabins, on the other hand, are smallish changing rooms combined with storage facilities. In a bath cabin, you can get changed privately AND store your items in a safe place.

The cabin comfortably accommodates one person, so if you are a couple it might seem a bit tight, but you can take turns in getting changed (of course, the same applies to families or smaller groups too). As cabins take up more space and ensure your privacy, bath entries with cabin use (or more precisely, cabin hire) are more expensive than simple lockers. If you buy the cheaper bath entries with lockers, you will have to get changed in the women-only / men-only public changing rooms, and then store your bags in the lockers. If you wish to have your own privacy or are shy, cabins are definitely an ideal solution. Regular swimming pool goers will be fine with the lockers we assume.

  1. Is it ok to keep suitcase in cabin as we coming straight from airport?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Peter,
the cabin is like a tiny room, or cubicle, which can store a standard check in suitcase easily.
The cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave there the 20 kg suitcase as well ( if it is a regular size) along with your jackets etc.
The door of the cabin has a unique chip code lock, which opens and closes with a special waterproof bracelet: in fact, with the chip incorporated in the wristband bath entry provided at the bath. Please make sure that your door is locked with the silicon wristband before leaving the cabin. As you are wearing the band all the times, it is quite secure if you make sure that the door is not left open.
Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

      Hello Kristina,

      thank you for your email.

I can confirm that there are massage appointments available on the day of your planned visit. Appointments are subject to availability. Once you make the payment, we will book you in for a treatment, which is the closest to your preferred hours.

Please note that we can only book a massage after payment has taken place as massage hours are limited. Once payment has come through, as pointed out earlier, we will strive to book you in closest to your preferred massage hours. If we cannot offer a suitable time for you, the price of the massage will be refunded.

To make a valid reservation please follow the link to our website:
      http://szechenyispabaths.com/massage/

Apart from your massage hours, you can visit the bath before or after your massage treatment too (the tickets are for the whole day in fact, for the indoor and outdoor pools and facilities). Please note that we kindly ask guests to arrive minimum 1 hour before the massage begins to be ready for the massage.

Please note that only 2 massages can take place in the same room at the same time, and this is a double massage. Please also note, that there are no 20 min double massages available in Szechenyi Baths. Only 50 min and 70 min massages can be booked as double massages.
We are looking forward to your reservation.

  3. Dear,

Yesterday my girlfriend and I planned a trip to these thermes. We heard that according to plenty of people who were already in Budapest, that this is a must-see. Following their tips, we decided to go at dawn, to see the baths in daylight as well as when it’s dark, because both seemed very special.

We arrived around 5:30PM and booked a cabin. After getting changed, we asked the lady who worked there clearly if we could still use the cabin after 7PM, since we knew the inside pools were closing. She said this didn’t posed any problem so we went on our tour through the baths.

When the sun went down at around 7:45PM, we wanted to get a camera out of our bag to start taking some pictures to show our family what kind of beautiful place the thermes were. This is when our trip went down south and when the rest of our night was ruined.

There was no way back to the cabins, every door was locked or sealed. We met some other people (we ended up with a group over 15 people with the same problem) who were also looking for a way to their locker or cabin which was situated in the right side of the building which was locked down.

Finally the group that had been formed met someone of the staff, he looked at us as we were some stupid tourists who couldn’t read because “it closes at 7pm” and he treated not only us but also our fellow searchers with disregard.

When getting to the cabin, the same woman was back there who said it was open till 10PM, but then she insisted having said that is was only available to use the cabin till 7PM.

We had to leave in a hurry, didn’t get the chance to take a shower nor any pictures inside the facility, all because the communication, not only towards me and my girlfriend, but in general (since we were surely not the only one if you would check with your staff) was lacking.

Being treated that way also ruined the mood for the rest of the evening, while normally you would hope to exit a spa relaxed.

I would even insist on a (partial) refund for what happened yesterday.

    Vincent, a displeased costumer.

Feel free to contact me by mail for any further notice.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Vincent,
      Thank you for contacting us.
We are truly sorry to hear about your complaint.
We will be in touch with you soon via email. Thank you for your patience.

  4. Hello, I and two friends are booked in for Friday 1st December. Can you tell me the price to rent a towel please?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Paul,
Although towel rental is available in Szechenyi Baths, there are often queues building up. Please note that the fast track entrance is only for the bath entry, and will not entitle you to have a quicker access to rentals or services. Therefore, we strongly recommend bringing your own towel to avoid some unnecessary inconvenience. The towels can be rented with a deposit of HUF 2,000, and a rental fee of HUF 1,000 (cash in HUF only for both).
Flip flops are warmly recommended to be brought to the bath.
Have a nice stay in Budapest!

  5. Hello,
If you want to book for 2 people at a certain point it says how many packages? Does this mean for how many people, or how many massages you want?
And if you book for 2, will these massages be in the same room, at the same time? Or how does that work?
    Kind regards,
    Carmen

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Carmen,
the Double massage packages are for 2 guests, so you have to write 1 in order to get 1 package for the 2 of you (2 packages would be for 4 guests).
The double massage package offers 2 entry tickets and a double massage (2 guests at the same time in the same room).
You can set a preferred massage hour and we will book you in according to the available timeslots. You will receive the confirmed massage hours via email.
      I hope I could help.

      • Hello,
It’s still not completely clear to us how it works. We can’t find a double package for a massage, but just a massage combined with a bath ticket for 37 euros each. This doubles if you say 2 packages, but there’s still just one name you have to fill in. Where on the site can I find a double massage package, or how do I book for 2 people?
        Kind regards,
        Carmen Bruisten

        • Szechenyi Spa Baths

          Dear Carmen,
the double massages are only available in 50/70 min versions, I am afraid that the 20 min massage rooms are single rooms only.
          I hope I could help.

          • One last question. We only want a massage for 20 min, but we’d like it at the same time, is there any possibility this can be arranged? Kind regards Carmen

          • Szechenyi Spa Baths

            Dear Carmen,
it is possible to have the 20min massages at the same, although in separate rooms.

  6. Maria Dolores Garces Muro

Buenas noches. Gracias
