Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace

Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvellous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Szechenyi Spa Baths is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries: starting with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths, through the 16th century Turkish occupiers who built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest to the 19-20th century natural medical trends that promote aqua therapies and their deeply beneficial effects. The beautiful building of the spa baths is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in May 1909.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Spa Baths, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love.

  1. Hello there. If I will
Come early morning tomorrow can I be sure I will get in. Whats the latest time you normaly let people in?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Jan,

You can definitely have a good chance to be let in if you arrive early morning.

The last check in is suggested at 5pm: the baths closes at 7pm so you will need at least 2 hours to get changed (on arrival and upon leaving) and leave time for the pools and thermal facilities. Cashiers normally close 1 hour before closing time.

  2. Hello,

I plan to visit the Baths in the first week of Sept. Are the bookings being done only on the spot ? and not online ?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Aparna,

Bath tickets are available on the door at the thermal baths. Online booking will soon resume too.
Please let me know if I can be of more help.

  3. Hello,

I would like to know, if I can easily get in at any time I come. Is there long waiting time from booking until i get in? How does this ticketing working, please? Also, can I spend all day in here?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Tamara,

The entry really depends on which day you would come, as weekends are still more popular throughout the year.
Also there are certain hours when more tourists / visitors arrive and less popular hours like the early morning slots.
The bath closes much earlier these days than before, cashiers at 6pm-ish, the building at 7pm.

To be on the safe side we normally recommend booking online, but until the end of Aug there is a reduced sale on the spot, so it’s a great saving to buy at the cashiers until 31st Aug.

Yes, you can stay all day, there are no caps on visiting hours currently.

  4. Hello Good morning what is the normal price for tomorrow and for students?

    Thanks in advance

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

Hello Elizabeth, until Aug 31 the cheapest entry is reduced by 40% regardless of the fact whether you are an adult or a student.
      Hope this is great news.

Enjoy the baths and your stay in Budapest!

  5. How can I schedule a full body massage on 5st October? 60 minutes, 2 person (same room)? Of course with an entrance to the baths in the morning…

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Orly,

you can schedule your massage appointment in the baths on the spot at the cashier.
From Sep 01 Hungary closes its borders (a decision made yesterday, Aug 28), please kindly check whether you can realise your travel / bath visit plans.

  6. Hi, is the Aug 31 included in the promotion (40%) period?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Bart,
You can purchase your reduced tickets in the baths on the spot at the cashier.
      Enjoy the baths!
