Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace

Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Szechenyi Spa Baths is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries: starting with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths, through the 16th century Turkish occupiers who built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest to the 19-20th century natural medical trends that promote aqua therapies and their deeply beneficial effects. The beautiful building of the spa baths is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in May 1909.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Spa Baths, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love.

  3. Felicidad Macabuhay

Hi. I really want to go to this place but I have 11 y/o child coming with me. Is she allowed in this spa. What would be the best time of the day to go.
    Thanks

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Felicidad,

      thank you for contacting us.

The pools in Szechenyi Bath are not recommended for kids under the age of 14.

As many of the 18 outdoor and indoor pools and baths at Szechenyi Thermal Baths are more than 33 degrees Celsius, the mere temperature of the pools means a potential increase in the stress for the cardiovascular system of kids, whose body is not fully developed yet to be able to cope with the heat of the bath waters. In addition, many pools are deeper, there are no specific child pools or aqua fun facilities (no slides, no splash areas, no colourful water park toys).

Please see more on the topic on:

  5. Dear Team,

I am visiting with my parents on 1st of December until the 5th of December.

Is there any days that you do not operate?

Also if we buy ticket do we have to be there at 9 or can we come later on until close time?

Is it accepted to bring our own towels/flip flop for around the baths?

And are all men and woman allowed in all baths? As we dont want to leave my father out of the company.

    Thank you :)

      Hello Anna,

Szechenyi Baths is open every day, throughout the year, and please bring your dad too. The spa is mixed.

With the online bought fast track bath entries, you can come anytime between 9am and 6pm.

Flip flops /slippers are required to be worn in the whole area of the bath. If you do not have your own, you can buy a pair in the entrance hall shop.

You can rent or buy towels, but maybe it is easier to bring them with you.

Have a great time in Szechenyi Baths.

  6. Hi, I am coming end of October and was thinking to pass 1st of November in the baths. I know the date is a public mourning day so mostly everything is closed so I was wondering if the baths is closed as well on that date?
Another question is: I am veiled so do you allow burkinis in the baths? is there anything that I need to be aware of?
