Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace

Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Szechenyi Spa Baths is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries: starting with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths, through the 16th century Turkish occupiers who built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest to the 19-20th century natural medical trends that promote aqua therapies and their deeply beneficial effects. The beautiful building of the spa baths is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in May 1909.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Spa Baths, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love.

        Dear Milly,

    • Hello can I come alone and buy a package when I get there or do I need to book a reservation online?

      • Szechenyi Spa Baths

Hello Joe, of course you can get a ticket at the baths (it is a standard, not fast track ticket and during day time queues often build up at the cashiers). If by package you mean a massage treatment, unfortunately, most massages are booked up in advance (some, especially the longer VIP massages) on certain – weekend – days are gone weeks ahead.
That said, you can always give a try, there might be some slots left, e.g. for the shorter, 20 minute massages.

In short, you do not need to book online, it’s an option for convenience.
Most guests who book online in advance have a schedule in their mind and would prefer to have a treatment at a certain hour of the day so that they can plan ahead for other tours , shows, concerts, etc. in Budapest.

But buying on the spot is always an option (waiting time varies between 15 min to 70 min, depending on peak hours and days). Hope this helps.

  2. Until what time are the indoor pools open?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

Hello Nancy, the indoor pools are open until 10 pm. Hope we can welcome you at Szechenyi Spa Baths!

  3. I would like to book a massage but I already purchased bath tickets.may I book the massage separate?
    Thank you
    Ellen Negrin

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Dear Ellen,
      thank you for your inquiry.
Please let me kindly inform you that massages can only be booked via our website, if you already have a valid bath ticket also booked with us (normally sold as a combined package of Ticket + Massage for this reason).
There are no massage only options in the baths (massage is only available for bath guests with a valid ticket).

If the bath tickets were purchased on a different website from a different company, you will need to book the massage on that particular website to get it combined with your existing ticket for the sake of traceability.

Alternatively, you can book the massage on the spot as well if any slot is left, it is often unpredictable what remains for a given day, but it is fair to say that weekends (Fri/ Sat / Sun) are the busiest of all when most treatments are pre-booked (we recommend advance reservation to secure your appointment as they are very popular among Budapest tourists).
