Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace

Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Szechenyi Spa Baths is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries: starting with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths, through the 16th century Turkish occupiers who built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest to the 19-20th century natural medical trends that promote aqua therapies and their deeply beneficial effects. The beautiful building of the spa baths is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in May 1909.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Spa Baths, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love.

  1. Hi, if i book the full day ticket. does it allow me to go out of the bath house and come back on later hours? Like go out to walk around the city and return after getting tired?thanks

      Hello Bamboo,

      thank you for your email.

I am afraid, Szechenyi spa entry tickets are for only 1 entry, you cannot leave the spa and then re-enter.

  2. Hello, I just booked my tickets. I have only received a PayPal receipt. Is this what I show at entry or will I receive proper tickets?

    Thank you.

I am booked up for Budapest in November and I am wanting to come here, I was just wondering if I am able to book the tickets directly when I get to Budapest or If I would just pre-book through yourselves. I noticed it says pay in Euros, would you be able to confirm the cost for me? As It would come out my account as GBP.

    Thank you!

      Hello Megan,

      thank you for your email.

It is possible to buy tickets on the spot, but the with the online bought spa entries you can skip the line when entering.

It is up to you whether you wish to buy a ticket with a private cabin or with only a locker. All online purchased spa entries provide fast track entries.

A whole day ticket with a private cabin is EUR 20 (EUR 21 on weekends).

We have tickets for late October, arriving on Viking River Cruises. What are the best options for getting to your location other than walking?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Jay,

      thank you for your email.

The address of Szechenyi Baths is:
9-11 Allatkerti korut Street, Budapest, District 14 (on maps, you will see District XIV), H-1146. (i.e. the post code is 1146).

As we do not know which dock your cruise ship will arrive to, we cannot give you any exact advice.

If you do not wish to arrive by taxi, it is very easy to get there, because one of the stops of the metro line M1 is named after the spa and is right in front (or back) of it.

It’s quite amusing to come by trolleybus, it is No. 72 and 75 that take you closest to the bath. Among the buses, the best choice is No.105, but you have to get off at Heros’ Square, which leaves you some space for walking.
