Szechenyi Baths & Pool: Fun Place, Fine Palace

Szechenyi Baths (built in 1913) is the most visited and much praised attraction in Budapest: relaxing, fun, affordable and, at night, romantic. In addition to the marvelous medicinal natural hot spring waters in the 18 pools, there are 10 saunas / steam cabins, several massage therapies, facial treatments, and more.

Szechenyi Spa Baths is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries: starting with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths, through the 16th century Turkish occupiers who built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest to the 19-20th century natural medical trends that promote aqua therapies and their deeply beneficial effects. The beautiful building of the spa baths is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in May 1909.

Come and enjoy your time in Budapest in Szechenyi Spa Baths, in a beautiful, richly decorated palace. The perfect place to chill out, to get to know locals, make business deals and fall in love.

  1. Can you hire towels please?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Andy,

towel rental is available in Szechenyi Baths, but there are often queues building up. Please note that the fast track entrance is only for the bath entry, and will not entitle you to have a quicker access to rentals or services. Therefore, we strongly recommend bringing your own towel to avoid some unnecessary inconvenience. The towels can be rented with a deposit of HUF 2,000, and a rental fee of HUF 1,000 (cash in HUF only for both).
Flip flops are warmly recommended to be brought to the bath.

I hope I could be of help.

  2. Charlotte Hitchcock

Hello, I booked two tickets for the bath for Saturday but nothing has come through to my email. Thanks Charlotte

      Dear Charlotte,
      thank you for contacting us.
I would like to confirm that we have received your booking, and the confirmation email has automatically been sent to your given email address. Hotmail accounts store these kind of emails in the junk folder, I am afraid.
I have now forwarded it from our backup email address.
Please check the junk/spam folder of your mailbox too.

  3. Hi there
Do I have to prebook tickets for my visit to the baths?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Elena,
you can buy your tickets on the spot upon arrival, but we suggest the online tickets so you will be able to skip the main queue and check in at our HelpDesk. If you wish to have massages as well, please book online as the appointments are normally booked up in advance.

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

  5. Hello
is it possible, after entering the complex, to go out to the park and then re-enter without purchasing a new ticket?

    • Szechenyi Spa Baths

      Hello Ben,

      thank you for your email.

I am afraid, it is not possible. The spa tickets are for only one entry, as it is a single pass, not a multi pass.

Have a nice stay in Budapest!

  6. Hi, is it necessary to book or can you arrive on the day and pay in cash? And if so can you also pay for a locker on the day?
