Szechenyi Bath is in the biggest green park of Budapest, in the City Park, close to a bunch of Budapest attractions. The  Neo-baroque palace was specifically built for hosting Szechenyi Baths as Hungary has been the country of baths (and Budapest the City of Baths) for many centuries.

The history of thermal bathing starts with the Roman settlers who built the first spa baths (Aquincum was the Roman’s settlement in today’s ‘old Buda’ district. Then, through the 16th century, Turkish occupiers built many of the famous and revived Turkish baths in Budapest. The 19-21st century even grew further in popularity, promoting natural medical trends where aqua therapies and their beneficial effects attracted hundreds of thousands to thermal spas all over Hungary. The beautiful building of Szechenyi Bath  is the design of Gyozo Czigler (Győző Czigler) who started to build Szechenyi Furdo in 1909. As an exciting contrast, these days the bath welcomes thousands of young people to a dazzling laser disco with throbbing vibrations to enjoy an ultimate bath party almost every Saturday night.

  1. Are children allowed to use the outdoor baths with their parents? They are 10 and 13, quiet and we only plan a short visit

      Hello Naz,

      Thank you for contacting us.
Children under 14 are unfortunately not allowed in the thermal pools in Szechenyi Baths (indoor or outdoor).
A safer and more family friendly option is the Aqua World Budapest or Palatinus Bath on Margaret Island.

    • We are two persons and I wonder if it’s possible to book one single ticket and one ticket with massage?

        Hello Emelie,

        Thank you for contacting us.

Yes, it is possible to purchase one single ticket and one ticket with a massage. Kindly note that there are no massage treatments without a bath ticket in the Baths.

      Hello Michelle,

      Thank you for contacting us.
Towel rental is, unfortunately, suspended in the Baths. Only the Palm house package includes bath robes and towels.
Please bring your own towel on the day of your visit or, alternatively, you can purchase one in the Bath shop.

We hope you have a great time visiting Budapest!

        Hello Ingela,

There are no planned pool closures for the day of your visit, however the Baths reserve the right to carry out maintenance works on demand.
Please keep an eye on our websites for updates.

  3. Good evening

I was wondering whether you had safe storage for suitcase as we will be coming on the last day of our visit to Budapest and be travelling to the airport straight after and our hotel does not have storage for luggage

    Best wishes

      Hello Ryan,

      Thank you for contacting us.
If you purchase your entry tickets with a cabin you can leave your luggage in the cabin provided (the cabin size is approx. that of a dressing room in a clothes shop, so you can leave the 20 kg suitcase – if it is a regular size- along with your jackets etc.).
Have a great time visiting Budapest!

      Hello Duaa,

      Thank you for contacting us.
According to current regulations children under 2 can enter the Baths for free, no need to get a ticket for them, but they are strictly not allowed in the thermal waters.
We hope you have a lovely time visiting Busapest!
